About the Lab
Lab Mission
The Rau lab is a collaborative team of scientists working together to advance knowledge and understanding of the genetic basis of cardiovascular diseases using animal models. We are committed to creating a welcoming and respectful place for learning, teaching, and contributing. We value ideas, open minds, hard work, and fun.
History
The Rau lab was founded in Spring 2020 as part of the new (and rapidly expanding) Computational Medicine program at UNC Chapel Hill. The lab started out with funds from a NIH Transition to Independence (K99/R00) award for the study of DNA methylation and its role in the development of heart failure. We have since expanded into examining the role of multinuclation in cardiomyocytes and cell-type compositions in cardiac tissue
We are still a new lab! That means we are figuring things out as we go along and definitely don't have everything set in stone. If something seems weird in how we do things and/or if you figure out a way to improve the lab, please let everyone know!
