We use Quartzy to manage our lab's needs. We will be sending you an invite to join the Rau Lab group to your email - please look out for it and remind us if we forget.
As a general rule, you don't need to run anything you want to order that is less than $500 past me first, assuming we've talked about the project as a whole and have sketched out what the experiments will look like. If the price is over $500, then we should talk. If the price over $5,000 then we need to get additional sign-off from the SOM!
To order something, find it on the website of the company you want to order from, note down the important features (name, product ID, price, the quantity you want, etc) and login to your account on Quartzy and click the 'Add Request' button:
Put your information into the boxes. Hopefully, it will be able to find what you want. It will also sometimes find alternatives for you that may be cheaper, so keep an eye out for that! You can click 'add details' if you need to put in information about what your funding source will be for the purchase, if you have a PO for it, etc.
If you are ordering from a less common vendor, or something unusual (like mice), or simply want more control, click the Skip Lookup button. You'll get to a page where you can enter all that information in manually.
Once you hit REQUEST, it goes into the queue, where a lab manager or myself will approve the purchase and actually get it ordered.
